A university placement shadowing the studio owner across the day-to-day running of an independent recording studio: reception, bookings and studio administration, with regular cover for the studio manager.

It was a first placement inside a professional music production environment, based in Leeds during a formative period for the city's music scene. The work covered the practical side of keeping a studio running, alongside direct visibility of how sessions actually came together.

Independent studios run on admin as much as on sound. Both sides matter.
